ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome to my digital coaching portfolio! My name is Tyler Miller and I am honored to serve as an assistant basketball coach for Montana Tech University. Having spent 10 years so far in the basketball coaching arena, I understand the intricate balance between skill development and character building. My coaching philosophy revolves around not only refining the technical aspects of the game but also instilling values such as sportsmanship, resilience, and leadership. I firmly believe that the lessons learned on the court extend far beyond the boundaries of the game, shaping individuals into well-rounded, successful, and confident contributors to their communities.

I believe in the transformative power of sports, using basketball not just as a platform for athletic achievement, but also as a tool for character building and personal growth. My coaching philosophy revolves around instilling values of resilience, sportsmanship, and leadership in my players, empowering them to become not only better athletes but also better individuals.

I am a native of Chandler, Arizona, where I was an outstanding high school player at Basha High School, and from there I earned a basketball scholarship to Western Colorado University. After my freshman season, I decided to transfer to the University of Montana Western to finish out my playing eligibility.  In addition, I made the Frontier Conference Academic All-Conference Team all three years and was a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete two times. I ended up graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2014 from Montana Western. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Information Technologies. Eventually I earned his master’s degree in Instructional Technologies at University Central Arkansas, where I spent a total of 6 years on the coaching staff for the men’s basketball team. I was the Director of Basketball Operations for 3 years and an Assistant Coach for 3 years.

I am still very young in the coaching profession, but I feel that in the next 2-5 years I will be ready to make the jump into a head coaching position at a small college level (NAIA, NCCAA, NCAA D2, etc). This is the reason why I created this digital portfolio, so that way I can get my name out there and promote myself to athletic directors all over the United States.

I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy day to find out about who I am as a small college basketball coach and how I conduct myself as a young man just trying to do my best in this world.
